Flat roofs can be built using several durable materials, we specialize in the following systems:

  • TPO (Thermoplastic Polyolefin) – Energy-efficient and cost-effective.

  • EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) – Long-lasting and weather-resistant.

  • PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) – Excellent durability and chemical resistance.

  • Modified Bitumen (Torch-On) – Good for extreme weather and flexible under temperature changes. – most common option in Ottawa.

  • Built-Up Roofing (BUR) – Traditional tar-and-gravel system for durability.

  • Roof Coatings – Excellent for roof recovery projects.

Each material has pros and cons depending on budget, climate, and usage.

The lifespan of a flat roof depends on the materials, proper sloping and maintenance.

Average life span is 10-30 years.

Regular maintenance can significantly extend the lifespan of your roof.

Flat roofs require regular inspections and maintenance to prevent leaks and damage. We recommend:

  • Twice-a-year inspections (spring and fall).

  • Clearing debris and drains to prevent ponding water.

  • Checking for cracks, bubbles, or membrane wear.

Our maintenance programs help maximize your roof’s lifespan.

Flat roofs are designed with a slight slope to direct water toward drains, scuppers, or gutters. However:

  • Clogged drains can cause ponding water..

  • Poor installation can lead to standing water issues and leaks.

  • Proper maintenance ensures effective drainage and helps to prevent maintenance related leaks

We design and install flat roofs with optimized drainage systems to prevent water buildup, and with extensive experience in diagnosing leaks and repair roofs we have the advantage of reducing or eliminating problem areas issues during installation.

Flat roof costs vary based on materials, size, and complexity.

Yes! Proper insulation reduces energy costs and improves indoor comfort. Options include:

  • Rigid Foam Insulation (Polyiso, EPS, XPS) – Installed under the membrane.

  • Spray Foam Insulation – Provides excellent thermal resistance and waterproofing.

  • Inverted Roof  – Protects the waterproofing layer and extends the roof’s lifespan by placing EPS or XPS insulation above the roofing membrane, secured with a river-washed gravel ballast.

A well-insulated flat roof can lower heating and cooling costs year-round.  Contact us to discuss the best option for your project!
